With 2024 nearly here, it's the best time to reflect on what we want to accomplish in the year ahead. If you're a salon owner or freelancer, it's key to set goals throughout the year to keep up with the ever-evolving hair & beauty industry, so we have just the New Year's resolutions that will give you all the inspiration for making 2024 a successful one!

Keep on top of your salon marketing

Make 2024 the year of stepping up your salon marketing game! Whether this be through social media, email, or SMS, craft a monthly marketing plan to outline the content you'll want to deliver to your clients. Stay consistent by sharing client transformation reels or using SMS to announce in-salon promotions (and to remind your clients to show up!). While this may seem like a lot of work, consistent posting will not only engage and build existing client relationships but also attract new clients. Consider filming a salon tour or a day in the life for that extra touch of personality. This will undoubtedly capture attention and set your salon apart!

Create a vision board

A personal favourite, take some time to visualise your aspirations for the upcoming year by creating a vision board. Include a collection of photos or words that inspire you or are future achievements you want to reach within the year. By crafting a visual representation of 2024, you'll immerse yourself in the vision of success, fuelling the motivation needed to actively pursue and accomplish your objectives. Refer back to your vision board throughout the year to see what achievements you have already accomplished!

Try new products & brands

The start of a new year is the perfect opportunity to try out those professional salon products you've had your eye on. So why not give a new brand a try? Perhaps incorporating vegan or cruelty-free products into your salon or a new launch that has been the new craze. Offering new products at your salon or new launch that has been the new craze. Offering new products at your salon gives you the chance to find products you love, as well as the advantage of attracting new clients, so make sure you let your clients know what is new at the salon.

Network, network, network!

Make 2024 the year of jumping out of your comfort zone and networking with your favourite brands, stylists or potential clients! This is a great opportunity to get to know the faces and personalities behind the brands you adore by participating in events, educational courses and workshops. This not only introduces you to new faces in the industry but can heighten your motivation and passion for what you love to do. Why not capture your networking days on social so your followers can get an insight into your work life, as well as grab the attention of brands that may invite you to events they have planned within the year.

Become more sustainable

With Veganuary kicking off at the start of the year, this could be the perfect opportunity to make more sustainable changes within the salon, such as introducing vegan products for your clients. While this may seem an overwhelming goal, making little changes to your everyday work routine such as choosing products with recyclable packaging or reducing heat and water temperatures slightly. Each small change you implement will be sure to make a difference and encourage you to make more sustainable changes throughout the year. Also, I am sure your clients would appreciate this too!

Refresh your salons services

Kick off the new year with a service revamp that keeps client's appointments memorable and fun! With the industry being highly competitive, it is important to keep your clients coming back, so give them a reason too! Why not implement a new loyalty scheme or upgraded drinks menu? Perhaps update your client's consultation process by making it more in-depth to your client's needs and wants. We like the idea of having a booking app to make your client's booking process more simple and flexible. Refreshing your salon services will be sure to have your clients coming back.

Get on-trend

Stay on-trend by getting involved with upcoming hair colours and cut trends. Through social media or your favourite magazines, make sure to monitor all hair trends so you can offer these to your clients. This could be in the form of creating specialised services or posting your creations to social media. Showcasing these trends will attract clients that seek the latest trends, and know they will be in safe hands doing so! With photo inspiration being a popular process of consultation, keeping on top of trends will increase your confidence in how you can meet client expectations. Not to mention, it adds fun to your appointments.

Stay organised

Get ahead of your admin game this year by keeping organised with booking management, stock inventory and finances. This could even be making sure your salon is kept tidy, throwing out any neglected products, or purchasing brand new tools fresh for the new year. Whatever you have been putting off, have the start of a new year be the motivation you need to get it done! Schedule time every week so you don't end up with an overload of tasks. You'll feel much better for it and will be ready to take on the new year!
