Spring Hair Trends of 2026: The Cuts, Colours & Hairstyles

Published date 09 March 2026

Back to article listing
Spring is the season of fresh starts, and that also includes a fresh start for your hair! Clients will be ready to swap out their heavy winter hair colours and styles for something softer and brighter, giving a more effortless look for the new season. Including creamy blondes and modern up-dos, this season’s trends give us dimension and movement, ensuring a perfectly undone finish. If you’re looking for inspiration behind the chair, as well as want to give inspiration to your clients, here are the spring hair trends for 2026 that you’ll want to know about.

Milk Tea Bronde

Noticed a wave of soft, creamy brunettes taking over social media that gives the most aesthetic look? Well, you’re already looking at one of the biggest hair trends of the year… Milk Tea Bronde. Inspired by the silky light brown shade of milky tea, this colour sits between blonde and brunette. Being on the cooler side, with a beige-brown base, Milk Tea Bronde is completely balanced with a hint of ash for a muted and modern finish.

Compared to your traditional brunette and blonde, Milk Tea Bronde feels lighter and fresher, giving the hair a super glossy and soft finish. Again, this shade is all about balance. The beige tone is created by combining gold and violet to ensure you get a healthy and dimensional finish, while toning out any unwanted warmth. It’s silky, neutral, and effortlessly chic, making it perfect for Spring.

Hamptons Blonde

Spring called, and it’s taking us straight to the Hamptons. This trending blonde shade is the ultimate sun-kissed shade for spring and summer, which gives that effortless beachy glow to the hair (hence the name). This hair shade features a creamy, buttery blonde base with a rich golden undertone, and dimensional highlights running throughout.

Rather than icy or an ultra-bright blonde, this trend leans into warmer and more neutral tones. Blending vanilla, honey and soft butter, and using a balayage or babylights technique, this creates the perfect lived-in Hamptons Blonde finish. It’s expensive looking - tapping into the ‘Old-Money’ vibe - but has that extra sun-kissed glow, making it the perfect spring hair transformation.

Halo Hair

We’re only three months into the year, and this hair trend has already broken the internet. Made famous by Alysa Liu’s signature look, Halo Hair is taking over the hair world. This angelic colouring technique places a lighter shade around the crown of the head to create that glowing ‘halo’ effect. The placement forms a circular shape at the top of the hair, which adds brightness and contrast throughout.

While you can create the Halo trend in a few ways, Alysa Liu’s look shows milky blonde tones painted over her naturally darker brunette base, with multiple halo-like rings flowing down through the hair. When creating this look in-salon, placement is everything. The lighter shade, such as where your lightener mix will be placed, needs to sit right at the top of the head to create that glowing effect, and will need to be painted through the layers of the hair to enhance the shape. Many stylists take a freehand approach to achieve this, painting directly onto the hair rather than using foils. And the finished look? Alternative, bold, with some serious rockstar energy.

The Midi Chop

It’s not quite a bob, and it’s not quite long hair; it’s the perfect in-between, enter the Midi Chop. Sitting around the collarbone or shoulders, the Midi Chop has become a quick go-to for clients wanting a hair refresh without losing too much length. This cut is completely versatile and easy to style, as well as long enough to ensure clients can still put their hair back into a ponytail. This cut is also ideal for anyone growing out a shorter bob, making it the perfect transitional style when heading into spring.

When cutting the Midi Chop, it’s best to remove length gradually to avoid cutting the hair too short, as well as making your clients feel more comfortable with the process. For the best result, cut slightly heavier layers to give the cut shape and to ensure there is lots of movement to keep the style wearable.

The Modern French Twist

The French Twist is back, but not as you might know it. The classic, Old-Hollywood style up-do is getting a modern revival for spring, still bringing its elegance but with a softer and more relaxed feel.

Traditionally, the French Twist is created by gathering the hair at the nape, twisting it upwards into a vertical shape, and securing it with some pins. However, the Modern French Twist is less polished and a lot more effortless. With this style, texture is key. The slightly undone strands, baby hairs, and natural texture are what add to the modern vibe of the style, keeping it much more wearable. The beauty of the Modern French Twist is in the imperfections, keeping it slightly messy and lived-in for that effortless and stylish finish.

With spring being the time for fresh starts, why not have your clients try out one of these trending hair looks? If there is one thing to note for the new season, it’s that clients will be leaning towards looks that feel polished but kept natural. For hairdressers, spring is the ultimate time to get creative with fresh colour and dimension, as spring is all about transformation.
