Bombshell Blonde: The Trend Taking Over Blondes In 2026

Published date 05 February 2026

Back to article listing

There’s no surprise that blonde is going big in 2026, becoming brighter and beautifully lived-in. And the trending blonde shade for the year, Bombshell Blonde, is leading the way. Think creamy, vanilla ice-cream tones with high-impact brightness, softened by a low-maintenance grow-out. It’s in the name: Bombshell Blonde is luxe, effortless, and completely wearable, making it one of the most requested blonde looks set to take over salons this year.

To achieve the Bombshell Blonde look, we collaborated with Jess Stancliffe using Joico Professional to get her take on how to achieve that confident, glossy blonde without those harsh lines or constant upkeep. Let’s break down the inspiration behind the look and exactly how to create it in the salon…

The Inspiration Behind Bombshell Blonde

Taking inspiration from the classic Hollywood glamour, old-money vibe, Bombshell Blonde is the reimagined version for the modern client. Being bright but effortless, the Bombshell Blonde trend is the opposite of flat and over-processed. The key is the softness through the dimension; it’s a blonde that looks expensive and lived-in from the day your clients leave the salon. For clients who love to stay blonde all year round without having to commit to regular appointments, Bombshell Blonde is the ultimate look!

How To Create Bombshell Blonde with Joico Professional

Step 1: Lightening

Jess begins by creating a lift through the mid-lengths and ends by using the Joico Balayage Powder. This creates a clean and controlled lift while maintaining your client's hair health.

Formula (mixing ratio of 1:2)

Step 2: Root Lightening

For the root area, Jess switches to Joico Blonde Life Lightening Powder to ensure a bright and consistent blonde.

Formula (mixing ratio 1:2)

  • 20g Blonde Life Lightening Powder
  • 40g Peroxide 6% 20vol

Step 3: Face Frame & Hairline

To keep the look ultra-bright and blonde, Jess focuses on the hairline and face-framing sections. This ensures the blonde stays luminous to bring the look together.

Formula (mixing ratio 1:2)

  • 10g Blonde Life Lightening Powder
  • 20g Peroxide 3% 10vol

Step 4: Technique Breakdown

Jess uses a diagonal sectioning technique with teasing and backcombing to create a soft diffusion throughout the hair. Around the front of the face, Jess used a babylights technique of small weaves to maintain brightness while keeping the result delicate and blended. Trust us, this step is key to achieving the Bombshell Blonde’s signature low-maintenance finish.

This is left to process for 45-60 minutes, and washed out using Joico’s Blonde Life Shampoo.

Step 5: Root-Tap Tone

To avoid a harsh regrowth and to create a seamless blend, Jess applies a subtle root tap to the client's damp hair.

Formula

Jess focuses on the hair roots to encourage a soft, natural grow-out.

Step 6: All over gloss

For that creamy, vanilla ice-cream finish, Jess glosses the hair using:

Formula

  • 12g Joico Blonde Life Demi Liquid 10T
  • 12g Joico Blonde Life Demi Liquid 10V
  • 50g 1.5% 5vol

Applied all over and left to develop for 10-15 minutes, this gloss delivers a stunning shine, tonal balance, and, of course, that iconic Bombshell Blonde softness. Wash out, style as desired, and be prepared to witness the ultimate bombshell transformation…

Why It’s The Trending Blonde Shade of 2026

Bombshell Blonde perfectly reflects what clients want right now… impactful results, without the effort. This shade is bright and wearable, and it’s designed to evolve between appointments to keep things low-maintenance. For professionals, it’s a high-value blonde service that showcases technical skill while delivering a bespoke result clients will keep coming back for.
