Butter Blonde: The ‘It’ Girl Blonde Trend of 2025

Published date 08 December 2025

Back to article listing

Like butter wouldn’t melt…

We have officially crowned Butter Blonde as the ‘it girl’ blonde shade of the year, with its warm, creamy, and effortlessly radiant hues marking a refreshing shift away from cool, icy blondes of previous seasons. Instead, clients are craving that golden, sunshine, luminous soft focus dimension, that’s more natural, expensive and wearable. Universally flattering and super customisable, it’s no surprise that icons such as Sabrina Carpenter, Margot Robbie, Reese Witherspoon, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley have made butter blonde their signature shade.

Want to learn how you can achieve this in your salon, with your very own clients? We’ve teamed up with our educator, Sara Simpson, to discuss how to achieve this trendy shade using Quif Professional.

What is Butter Blonde?

This trending blonde shade blends warm, creamy, and golden hues to create a rich, melted-butter finish that looks effortlessly natural and expensive. With a soft dimensional finish and a sun-kissed brightness to the hair, it’s perfect for clients who want to brighten up their look but want a more wearable shade compared to alternatives such as platinum or frostier tones.

How To Achieve Butter Blonde?

To bring this trending shade to life with your clients, we created a bright root, softened using Magi:light+9 premium lightener & Magi:gloss by Quif. The client wanted the blonde lifted closer to the root while maintaining a lived-in look, so to achieve this, Sara incorporated face-framing babylights to illuminate the front, combined with a balayage, and a weave-and-tease technique for that seamless dimension. Highlights were placed higher towards the root to ensure maximum impact, to allow the brighter pieces to truly pop! Sara used a hot cross bun sectioning technique to keep the placement clean and controlled; all sections were taken on an angle, which is essential when lightening the hair for that lived-in look.

Get To Know The Formula…

Lifting the hair:

  • 30g Quif Magi:light+ 9 level Violet Premium Lightener
  • 60g Quif Magi:fuel 6% (Mixed at a 1:2 ratio)
Glossing:
  • 20ml Magi:gloss 9:02
  • 20ml Magi:gloss 10:03
  • 60ml Quif Magi:gloss Developer

Once the hair is lifted to its desired level, shampoo the hair, and apply the gloss formula roots to the ends, for that luxurious, glossy and creamy finish. Develop the gloss for 20 minutes, rinse off and condition. Blow-dry and style the hair to reveal a beautifully melted buttery blonde shade for a dreamy shine and soft dimension.
