Autumnal Hair Colours of 2025: What's trending?

Published date 18 September 2025

Back to article listing

What’s trending for autumn 2025?

As we move into a new season, it’s the perfect time to refresh your salon’s offerings, as well as your trend knowledge, with the latest autumnal hair colour trends we’ll be seeing this time of year. This season's colour palette is all about rich, dimensional shades as well as the soft, lived-in tones that capture that cosy, autumnal feel. These shades will keep your clients looking super on-trend, stylish, and feeling luxe throughout the autumn without a doubt! Would we expect anything less this time of year? Let’s dive into our guide of the must-have autumn hair colours of the new season…

Sable Blonde

Loved by the trendsetter Zendaya, meet the perfect autumnal blonde shade we’re going to see a lot of this year - Sable Blonde. This cosy shade of blonde is the ultimate blend of muted honey and beige tones, giving a natural, low-maintenance finish that grows out seamlessly. This is the perfect refresh for clients who love their blonde but want a sprinkle of autumn that won’t keep them chained to the salon chair!

To recreate the perfect Sable Blonde, take Quif’s Magi:colour and mix 10.2 Extra Light Violet equal parts 10.3 Extra Light Golden Blonde. Pro Tip: Adding the violet to the gold will keep the blonde looking brighter for longer!

Caramelised Auburn

Red carpet ready, Emma Stone’s latest look is autumn in every single colour formula. Think warm caramel ribbons blended with earthy-toned, darker red tones to make the perfect Caramelised Auburn. Perfect for this time of year, this trendy shade works best with fair to medium skin tones, especially those with a warmer undertone.

Think your clients will want this look? Take two parts Magi:colour 7:35 Medium Golden Mahogany Blonde and add 1 part 7:4 Medium Copper Blonde for that extra auburn spice.

Black Cherry

Have you heard? Dua Lipa has switched up her iconic Red Cherry look and has opted for something much moodier. Get to know Black Cherry, the hair colour everyone is talking about this season. This burgundy, magenta, and a touch of black combine for a glossy shade that’s dark, enchanting and mysterious, giving a nod to the spookier time of the season. Plus, we love the flashes of crimson when the light hits! If your clients are ready to make a statement this autumn, Black Cherry is the perfect choice.

Make the moodiest Black Cherry this autumn by taking Magi:colour 4:22 Medium Intense Violet Brown to give the Black Cherry depth and tone. Also mix in Magi:colour 66:66 Dark Intense Red Blonde, for that pop of red cherry, making the perfect face frame.

Espresso Martini Brunette

It’s time for your brunette clients to ditch those highlights they wanted for summer and transition back to something moodier, more luxe, and more on-trend. Enter Espresso Martini Brunette, the new standout shade for autumn that features a deep, dark brunette base that’s enhanced with subtle bronde-toned highlights. This immediately adds dimension, depth and a touch of luxury to your clients' everyday look. It’s glossy, it’s sophisticated, and it’s going to be the shade to turn heads this autumn.

Champagne Blonde

Whatever the season, some clients don’t like to go too crazy with their hair colour, and that’s okay! For the client who lives for soft luxury, this beigey-blonde balances cool and warm tones for a super creamy finish that suits almost everyone. It may not be super autumnal, but this blonde is perfect for clients who want a polished look that is bright without the brass. Plus, we love a low-maintenance colour through the busier season!

Give your blonde clients this dreamy Champagne Blonde shade by taking Quif’s Quint:essential in 8:07 Light Blonde Muted Mocha for that dreamy muted mocha depth. In lighter areas, we want to create a combination of cool and warm tones for a cool, creamy vibe. For this, take equal parts 9.1 Very Light Ash Blonde and 10:33 Extra Light Blonde Natural Warm.

This autumn's trending forecast is about richness and elegance, with a hint of edge. Clients are looking for shades that last while still being super low maintenance, so think demi-permanent glosses and lived-in balayage techniques to help your clients stretch between appointments. Keep the darker, richer tones glossy with high-shine glosses, as well as ensure you bring your clients' colour to life with dimension to keep their look fresh and on trend. We can’t wait for the salon to be full of clients ready for their autumnal upgrade!

Professional hairdressers listen up! Don’t forget to post your autumnal creations to our brand new forum ‘Glow & Tell’ available now on Alan Howard Connect.
