Expensive Bronde: How To Achieve This Trending Summer Hair Look
Published date 10 July 2025

Your client's hair but better.
If there’s one hair colour that’s dominating summer’s trend radar, it’s going to be something luxury, something low-maintenance, and something sun-kissed: it’s Expensive Bronde. This luxurious blend of brunette and blonde gives your brunette client an effortless, expensive, and dimensional look perfect for the summertime.
This trend is all about soft, seamless blending that gives a lived-in colour with subtle sun-kissed ribbons throughout the hair, almost reminiscent of an iced vanilla latte. Perfect for a brunette client (even luckier if they have virgin hair!), this will be the ultimate summer transformation that will leave your clients glowing. Let’s dive into how to achieve the trending look for the summer…
How To Achieve Expensive Bronde
We sat down with our Alan Howard Educator, Sara Simpson, to discuss the trending Expensive Bronde, and how you can achieve this colour in your salons using Quif Professional Magi:tone. With our model base starting at a natural level 6, this was the perfect model to demonstrate just how achievable this trending look is, using the newly launched Magi:tone system to create a bespoke tonal balance, with subtle neutralisation tailored to each client’s natural tone and level lift.
Firstly, we started by mixing up our lightener, using 70g of the Magi:tone 7+ Lightener with 60ml of the Magi:tone Accelerator in 22 Vol (6.6%). To get the perfect tone that is personal to our model that still achieves the stunning Expensive Bronde shade, Sara added 6 drops of the Magi:tone Violet Drops, and 2 drops of the Magi:tone Blue Drops.
Sara’s Top Tip: The number and combination of drops you use should always reflect the lift level you’re working with, making the Expensive Bronde shade a truly customisable yet personalised colour.
Sectioning & Application
Sara began sectioning with a hot cross bun sectioning technique to keep the placement even and to create a natural, blended look. Using the mix, scatter this through the back sections for a natural blend, gradually increasing the density towards the front to create the soft brightness around the face. Using a balayage technique with backcombing and weaving is key to creating a seamless blend to keep the overall look soft and diffused. Process for up to 40 minutes, making sure to monitor the lift as needed. Once processed, wash the hair with a hydrating shampoo and conditioner, blow-dry, and style as desired! Watch the glow come to life…
Maintaining Expensive Bronde
As this look is all about tone, we recommend maintaining with a gloss, specifically Magi:gloss by Quif, in shades 10:2 & 10:12 every 6-8 weeks to keep the look radiant all throughout summer. Have your clients take home a colour-safe shampoo and a hydrating mask to keep the lightened ribbons shiny and smooth!
Why Expensive Bronde Is The Shade for Summer
- It’s soft and seamless
The literal definition of subtle luxury, Expensive Bronde melts into the client's natural tone that gives enough lightness to the hair, giving an instant radiant glow.
- Naturally sun-kissed
We love Expensive Bronde for its non-dramatic contrast that mirrors how the sun would naturally lighten the hair. It’s the perfect summertime look without being too overpowering.
- Customised to every client
When using the Magi:tone Toning Drops, this allows every Expensive Bronde service to be tailored to every client's undertone, base level, and desired finish. Your clients will love that they are achieving a look that is truly bespoke to them!
With Quif’s Magi:tone lightening and toning system, you can deliver a personalised look that still creates a high-gloss, expensive result that will leave your clients feeling like their true selves, just with better hair!
