How To Achieve Chocolate Cinnamon Brunette

Published date 24 June 2024

Back to article listing
As summer arrives, your clients often desire a lighter look, and we’re not just talking about becoming a full-head blonde! Summer is the perfect time to introduce your darker clients to a warmer, lighter look by adding a subtle lift and tone to their locks, and fortunately, we have the perfect shade to do this. Introducing Chocolate Cinnamon Brunette: a rich, chocolatey hue with subtle hints of gold that infuse warmth and luxury into your client's hair. While it may not be your typical summer shade, it serves as an excellent transitional colour for clients who want a lighter look as well as being a perfect move towards autumn. Let’s dive into how you can add some spice to your client's hair with a touch of cinnamon this summer.

Achieving the gorgeous ‘Chocolate Cinnamon Brunette’ with Quint:essential

Add the perfect shade of warmth to your client's hair with Quint:essential; this is a dual system colour that’s pre-bonded, pre-blended, and pre-adjusted. Our Quif Research & Development Manager, Claire Severn tells us, “With a fabulous range of rich warm tones, and because it has a pre-bonded base, Quint:essential is perfect when working on pre-lightened hair that might have porosity issues. It helps to ensure you achieve a perfect result. It will deliver full tone deposit, conditioning benefit and give added colour longevity!”

How to get the look:

Our model had recently had her hair coloured, yet was unhappy with the results as she was not as light as she had hoped. Being a level 4, the first step to achieving our ‘Chocolate Cinnamon Brunette’ was doing a balayage technique with a lightener. Here’s what we used for the perfect lift:
  • 60g magi:light bond-enforced lightener
  • 120ml of 10 vol/3%
Using a classic balayage technique, we weaved, backcombed, and applied our lightener heavily to the ends then worked our way up the hair in a feathering motion to the midsection. We processed this until the hair had achieved a red/orange tone. Once our lift was achieved, we shampooed twice and added a porosity balancer spray throughout the hair. We then mixed:
  • 60ml Quint:essential 5:3
  • 60ml Quint:essential Quasi developer
Once this had been left to stand for 5 minutes, so the colour could convert to a demi-permanent colour, we applied this mixture to damp hair at the backwash, combed through to ensure even distribution and left it to develop for 20 minutes.

Fast forward 20 minutes, the hair was rinsed and shampooed ready for styling. For a sleek finish, we added X-in-1 by Shed, applying this throughout the damp hair and then blow-dried using the Alfa Italia Forza. Once dry the hair was sealed with the Force-field Heat Protectant by Shed and straightened using the Alfa Italia Lustro Grande straighteners. And here are the results!

From a dark brunette with no sign of textural tone to a rich chocolate cinnamon colour, this technique immediately gives the hair that sun-lightened warm brunette look. Achieve this fabulous colour with Quint:essential by Quif for a stunning transformation that is perfect for clients who want to make that transitional change with their hair.
