How To Create Butter Blonde with Fast Foiling Techniques
Published date 07 May 2026

Butter Blonde had its moment in 2025, and this year, it’s not going anywhere. In fact, as we head into the summer months, it’s going to be one of the most requested shades in the salon. It ticks all the boxes of being bright, creamy, and super glossy, but without the overly-processed, icy finish. Instead, Butter Blonde sits perfectly as a soft and wearable blonde that embodies luxuriousness.
But here’s the real question… how can hairdressers create that expensive-looking blonde without having to spend hours and hours behind the chair? We caught up with Quif Artist, Brooke Evans, who’s created this stunning Butter Blonde using her signature fast-foiling techniques, and trust us, it’s a game-changer.
Get to know Butter Blonde

Butter Blonde is a softer, more wearable sister to platinum, that focuses more on warmth than icy cool. It’ll give your clients that bright, light-reflective finish, but instead of those cool, icy tones, it leans more into the creamy, buttery warmth that looks healthy and glossy. It’s the kind of blonde that looks expensive without having to try too hard. For your clients, it’s the perfect option if they want to go lighter but don’t want anything too harsh or high-maintenance. Butter Blonde is the go-to shade this summer, and it’s not difficult to see why!
Why fast foiling is the key to creating this look
If we’re being honest, traditional full head foils can take forever, and it’s definitely not helping your column. As Brooke puts it, a lot of stylists fall into the trap of packing in as many foils as possible, without actually charging for the time and skill that goes into it. But that’s where fast foiling changes this! Instead of more foils, it’s about smarter placement. The goal is to create maximum impact with fewer foils, to ensure you’re cutting down on appointment times. And once the foils are removed, you’ll get that seamless, blended blonde all your blonde clients are asking for.
Brooke’s approach to fast foiling
So, how does Brooke do it? It’s all in the placement strategy.
- Section first, as always
When starting the lightening process, Brooke sections the hair clearly to make the whole process quicker and more controlled. It might be a simple tip, but it makes a huge difference when you want to work more efficiently.
- Tease for a lived-in blend
Teasing the hair is key, especially through the top sections where everything is more visible. This will soften the grow-out and create an effortless, lived-in finish.
- Work diagonally in the back
Through the nape, Brooke uses diagonal back sections, working upwards. This helps create a natural blend and avoids any harsh lines through the back of the hair.
- Keep the top impactful but efficient
For the top box, you can work horizontally or use a Mohawk section depending on your client and timing. Around the face, finer slices or baby lights add that pop of brightness that frames the face beautifully!
- Less foils with bigger impact
This is where the magic starts to happen! Using a larger foil, we recommend the Quif Premium Embossed Pop-Up Foils in 200mmx406mm, can allow you to take wider sections and cover more area in less time. It’s all about working smarter, and not harder!
Pro Tip: Instead of folding every foil into a tight parcel, simply fold the edge to secure it. This will trap the heat effectively to speed up the processing time.
Get the most out of your lightener
One of the easiest ways to improve your results (and speed) is how you mix and use your lightener. Brooke recommends always mixing accordingly to the manufacturer instructions, using scales for accuracy, and mixing in smaller batches. This is because your lightener is most active in the first 20 minutes, so a fresher product, means a better lift. Brooke swears by using the Quif Magi:light+ Premium 9+ Bond Protect Lightener in Violet on her blonde clients, for that clean lift that sometimes doesn’t even require a toner!
The result

When all of these techniques come together, you achieve that signature Butter Blonde finish, which is soft and creamy, whilst creating a lived-in, seamless blend. The result feels high-end, without being high-maintenance, which is everything that clients are asking for right now.
