Trending Hairstyles Ready For Race Day

Published date 13 April 2026

Back to article listing

Race season is calling, and if you’re a salon owner or hair stylist, you’ll know exactly what that means… It's time to get your clients glam on. Clients won’t be holding back this year, as we’ll see a new wave of luxurious, feminine styles that look elevated and completely wearable (and most importantly, last all day). We’ve teamed up with our Scouse Queen & occasional hair expert, Aish Ryan, to explore the most requested hairstyles she has ready for racing season. Let’s take a glance at what looks your clients will be asking for in the salon chair.

The “Kimmy K” Updo

If there’s one standout look this race season, it’s the Kimmy K-inspired updo. A favourite of Aish’s, this style creates a super glamorous, slightly undone finish. With a mix of soft curls pinned into a loose, textured upstyle, this look feels equal parts sexy and effortless. So, what’s Aish’s secret to creating the perfect Kimmy K updo? Prep is everything. Curl the hair first to build texture and movement, then loosely pin in place. The beauty of this look is how quickly it comes together once the hair is prepped, ideal for those busy, back-to-back race morning appointments.

The Elevated Half-Up Half Down

Sometimes clients just want the best of both worlds when it comes to their hair, and the half-up half-down does exactly that. This hairstyle strikes the perfect balance between soft and structured, giving just enough glam while still feeling wearable. This look is timeless, flattering, and works perfectly with accessories such as fascinators. To make sure the client keeps the look polished all day, Aish recommends a flexible hold spray - especially the Shed Highrise Medium Hold Hairspray - to ensure the style is locked in place without making it feel too stiff. This will keep the hair soft, touchable and secure all day.

The Classy Low Bun

You can’t go wrong with a classic low bun for race day. This is the ultimate choice for clients wanting something on the chic side, that’s polished and looks more put together. Plus, it pairs perfectly with statement headpieces! To modernise the look, Aish recommends leaving out a few soft, face-framing strands to add an effortless elegance to the polished finish.

Extra Glam Waves

Extra glam waves will always have a major moment for race day. The structured, uniform ‘S’ shaped waves bring that Old Hollywood energy, but with a modern, glossy finish. Aish takes her trusty race day tool, the Alfa Italia Tropea Multi-Curl kit, to create consistent 1-inch sections to build that signature shape. Finish the look off with a high-shine finishing spray, such as Shed’s Mirror Mirror, to give the hair that reflective, red-carpet glow. The hair will look flawless from every angle.

Race Hair Day Sorted!

For clients coming into the salon for their race day hair appointment, the brief is most likely to be luxurious, glamorous, and soft. The key is creating a look that feels comfortable for the client, while still making sure it stays in all day. So, as the bookings start rolling in, make sure these trending race hairstyles are on your radar.
