FAQs
What’s the difference between demi and semi-permanent hair colour?
Semi-permanent hair colour coats the outside of the hair shaft and gradually fades after 6–12 washes.
Demi-permanent colour lasts longer (around 20–28 washes) and contains a low-level developer, allowing it to slightly penetrate the hair shaft without permanently altering the natural pigment.
Is demi or semi-permanent colour damaging to the hair?
Both are considered gentler alternatives to permanent colour. Semi-permanent contains no ammonia or peroxide, and demi-permanent uses a low-volume developer, making them suitable for sensitive or damaged hair.
Is a patch test still necessary?
Yes. Regardless of how gentle a product is, a patch test 48 hours before application is recommended to prevent allergic reactions.
How long does demi-permanent colour last?
Demi-permanent colour typically lasts 4 to 6 weeks, depending on hair type, porosity, and how often you wash your hair. It fades gradually without leaving a harsh regrowth line.
